Boats and classes

There are many different types of RC sailboats, but some belong to internationally recognised classes for which championships are organised. We have chosen to present these classes specifically here.

To give you an idea of the different classes of RC sailboats that are sailed in the individual clubs, here is a brief summary:

IRSA classes

 Dragon Flite 95 / DF 95

THE new class sailed all over Switzerland. The "big brother" of the DF 65, also from the chinese brand Joysway, this kit boat, which can be built in a few hours, offers easy access to RC sailing. This model is now available in its 2nd version, with improved electronics. Additional rigs can be purchased to better adapt to different wind conditions.

IOM - International One Meter

The most recent addition to the international classes, the IOM is a high performance boat with three classic rigs that can be sailed in almost any wind conditions. Some builders offer ready to sail boats, otherwise self-build in wood, fibreglass or 3D printing is possible.

M - Marblehead

A great international classic, the Marblehead is a high performance boat for which you can choose between 6 classic or swing rigs depending on the wind conditions. Some builders offer ready to sail boats, otherwise self-build is possible.

10R - TenRater

Very majestic in its dimensions, the TenRater is an extremely powerful sailboat, with 6 classic or swing rigs that can be adapted to suit the wind conditions. Some builders offer ready to sail boats, otherwise self-build is possible.

A-Class

Simply the largest of the RC monohulls, the A-Class is an extremely powerful boat. Some builders offer ready to sail boats, otherwise self-build is possible.

Other classes

Footy

The smallest of the RC sailing classes: the hull of the boat is 30cm. However, racing on suitable waters is exciting and challenging. Some manufacturers offer ready-to-go boats, otherwise self-building is possible.

Micro Magic

The famous kit sailboat from the german brand Graupner. The moulds have been bought back and the life of this class of sailboats is now extended by passionate Czechs who continue to produce the boat sold with beautiful 3D sails.

RG 65

A great development class, the RG 65's were introduced a few years ago and a lot of hard work by the participants has led to the development of ever more efficient hulls. It is also possible to buy boats ready to sail.

 Dragon Force 65 / DF 65

The first success of the Chinese brand Joysway, this kit boat, which can be built in a few hours, allows easy access to RC sailing. This model is currently in its 6th version, which is more competitive than the previous ones. Additional rigs can be purchased to better adapt to different wind forces.

Laser RC

A 1:4 scale radio-controlled replica of the famous english dinghy, this class has a few representatives in Europe, but remains fairly confidential.

Mini40

The other class of radio-controlled multihulls, but these are much easier to transport and handle because of their length, which is comparable to that of a Marblehead. The rigs of the latter can also be used on these boats. Light and fast, they provide a great feeling. Some manufacturers offer ready-to-go boats, otherwise self-build is possible.

Multi 2M

Catamaran or trimaran, this is the international multihull class of all superlatives. The rules of measurement are extremely open as long as the platform measures less than 2m x 2m and the mast is no more than 280cm. This makes it possible to achieve sail areas of more than 3 m2 for a total weight of 7kg. Extreme... Few builders offer ready to sail boats, otherwise self-build is the most common.
